RJWC - Serving the Community of Ruskin and the entire South Shore area.

We are not in a position in which we have nothing to work with.  We already have capacities, talents, direction, missions and callings.

A Years work at a Glance

RJWC's Community volunteer work is focused in six areas:

Arts, Conservation, Education, Homelife, International Affairs,
& Public Affairs

Club members select an annual placement in one of these six areas or on an administrative committee.

Arts Department:  The objective of the Arts in the community is to encourage members to foster and support art activities in
their communities.

Home Life:  This program serves to educate the members in the importance of Finance, improving the lives of others in need, and womens health.

Public Affairs:  The objective of the program is to educate members and others about the importance of active citizenship, Veteran's affairs and historic preservation.

Every year our Junior Club participates in The Annual Veterans Day Parade in Ruskin, Florida.  Various groups from the community join together to celebrate our Past, Present and Future Heros of our Great Nation!

Conservation:  We seek to educate members and others about the importance of community beautification, preserving natural resources, water and conservation.

Currently we are working with Tampa Bay Watch to collect the mono filament wire (fishing line) at Simmons Park in containers provided by Tampa Bay Watch.  The wire is collected via recycling containers placed at EG Simmons Park in Ruskin, Florida. (See our Club Info Page)
International Affairs Department:

What could be more important in these times than being up on the affairs of others in the world.  This programs objective is to educate members and others about the worlds' needs and to provide opportunities to offer support.
Education Department:

The essence of this program is to educate members and others about high levels of illiteracy amoung different populations, especially the young and the elderly.  By giving members ideas and ways to engage with their community and school officials.
Each year our club holds a  "Take out Spaghetti Dinner"  in order to purchase pumpkins for the 10 area elementary schools.  Each school received 1 pumpkin per class.  The class reads a story and they decorate the pumpkins reflecting the story.  The pumpkins are then put on display at the school for all to enjoy.
